Education authority strengthens workplace security in the Azure cloud

This government organisation wanted to strengthen its Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) infrastructure to increase its reliability and minimise the risk of failure. Optimising the infrastructure

To meet its needs, the organisation wanted to create a cloud-based testing environment. This would allow them to roll out new solutions faster and with a lower failure rate.

Based on SoftwareOne's recommendation, the client set up a copy of its existing production environment in the Azure cloud as a test environment. SoftwareOne helped the organisation to migrate servers for MIM, DirSync, AD, SQL and Exchange to the cloud and to remove synchronisation between test and production.

A cloud-powered evolution

After setting up a standard test environment of their identity and access management solution, including all infrastructure components such as Active Directory, MIM servers, SQL, etc., SoftwareOne helped the organisation to migrate these core components to Azure for testing purposes.

SoftwareOne also used the Virtual Network and Recovery Service Vault to ensure connection security and service reliability. Finally, an additional tenant for Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) was set up to cover the entire identity management process and to test the synchronisation of identities, groups and distribution lists with Azure AD.
