What's next for VMware EUC now that the acquisition has been announced?
Broadcom announced its intention to divest the VMware EUC business in December 2023. In the ensuing bidding process, financial investor KKR emerged as the preferred partner and announced in February 2024 that it would acquire the business for approximately $3.8 billion. We expect KKR to invest heavily in the EUC business and further develop its technology.
However, some questions remain:
- What will happen to VMware's Enterprise Licence Agreements, which include both Broadcom products and standalone EUC products?
- How tightly will Horizon continue to be integrated with the vSphere infrastructure?
