A journey to transformation in the Azure cloud

The migration began with dev/test environments. Working with the client, SoftwareOne provided help to:

Create an Active Directory forest and a separate domain for dev/test environments, to ensure high availability
Migrate existing SharePoint and GIS dev/test environments (which included SQL Server, SharePoint Server and application servers built on the Windows Server operating system) to Azure for better scalability

The blueprint for success

Together with SoftwareOne, discovery workshops were held with the client to understand their requirements and policies. By examining their architecture, SoftwareOne was able to recommend the best approach for the migration.

The next stage was to set up the necessary resources in Azure to prepare for the move.

As an initial backup, SoftwareOne created an offline copy of the development environment. In the final phase, SoftwareOne helped the client migrate their SharePoint Server and GIS development environments to Azure. To ensure that all resources were working correctly, SoftwareOne also assisted with UATs and troubleshooting any issues arising from the migration.
