The NIS Directive is Europe-wide legislation on cybersecurity. It was introduced in 2016 and became operational in 2023 under the renewed NIS2 framework. The Network and Information Security Directive 2, or NIS2, is designed to make European organisations more resilient to cyber threats. It will apply to more than 160,000 organisations in Europe. Member States must comply with the NIS2 Directive by October 17, 2024, at the latest.
